The benefits of tropical fruits
Consuming tropical fruits is highly recommended in order to have a healthy diet.
However, the banana is not always recommended for daily consumption, since it contains many calories and may contribute to weight gain. The truth is, it has one of the most important minerals for our body, necessary for a healthy life: potassium.
Properties of the banana:
First of all, there are two kinds of bananas. They differ in size and place of origin.
The banana in general contains many carbohydrates and fiber. Moreover, there is a carbohydrate named fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) which increases the number of beneficial bacteria for the colon.
As for its micronutrients, the most important ones are potassium, folic acid and magnesium.
It is also remarkable that bananas contain a specific substance named tannin that works as an astringent.
